Although terrariums are highly self-sustainable, they do occasionally require some care and attention. We’ve narrowed down some key maintenance indicators to keep your terrarium happy and healthy.

Water levels - To identify your terrarium’s water levels a key indicator to look out for would be condensation. If you are observing some slight condensation in your terrarium then this is is the perfect amount of water for your friend. If you are not observing any condensation then you can go ahead and add one teaspoon of water each day until you do! Remember it is always easier to add water than it is to remove it.

Light - Ensuring your terrarium has adequate sunlight is a valid concern but too much sun can actually harm your terrarium. Direct sunlight can burn your plants or can cause a heat buildup within the plant’s environment. The key to a healthy terrarium is actually ensuring that your plant has bright and consistent indirect sunlight.

Pruning - It is essential to trim your terrarium’s plants from time to time when you observe some crowding. Keeping your plants trimmed and clean will ensure that no dead matter is caught rotting in your plant’s enclose environment.

Supplements - Your terrarium plants should not grow too quickly, which means they do not require fertilizer. After a year has passed you may notice your plants lack color, if this occurs you can incorporate a water-based fertilizer to ensure the livelihood of your terrarium!

Happy planting!
